Negotiation Skills


1. Ask for what You need! If your not preparted to ask, success will diminish. Come up with at least three things you need or what to achieve in the long run. Otherwise, you aren't growing.

2. Avoid the Vale of Suck. [1]When negotiating, if both sides want the same thing, then negotiating is a breeze. In fact, it may not even feel like a negotiating. However, if you go into a situation where your not enthused about the whole idea of negotiating with another person, it may not go so well. In order to prevent this from happening keep in mind that the other person is interested in what you have to say. This will make things go well for both sides.

3. Know your audience (Communication). Keep in mind that the communication styles you develop and employ in all male dominated environments can be perceived as aggressive or angry in non-male dominated environments. Which is why you should tone your levels down. There are certain times where its ok to show how passionate your are, but try to keep your tone of voice at an appropriate level.

Boundary Setting Skills


1. Manage Your Time This can be difficult for people who have a lot going on in their lives. But it helps to set priorities for yourself by talking to your manager or you can get involved in a program that set on a weekly basis to helps. This process of setting up your priorities is essential, especially when your in "campaign mode" (Everything in your life is on fast-forward).

2. Balancing a Persona In the process of creating your persona you may find yourself in the position of a nature. In order to keep this from happening, put the breaks out early so that you don't create jeopardize your social capital.

3. Setting Priorities Make sure your task list is always visible by your manager. That way you can negotiate over what you should and shouldn't do more easily when you find your list of priorities filling up. And remember, everything can't be top priority. Have weekly one-on-one calls with your manager, and talk about your goals. Because if you don't talk about them, how else will they be known?

Discovery Skills


1. Gather information by walking around Know your audience by observing body language.

2. Asking the questions that makes all hell break loose This is always the right question to ask, because someone will be happy you asked it :)

Navigating Organization Structure



1. Relationships Are key to Getting Things Done Recognize key players in the work place by asking around ("How moves the needle?).

2. Search Company Structure

3. Love your administrative Professionals They are the key to the whole company. They also know all the answers, and if they don't they can always point you in the right direction.

4. Understand your colleagues needs Understand how all the jobs around you work. This will ultimately make things run faster. And it helps you be an effective negotiator.

Networking Skills


1. Group Dynamics Treat your social networks like investments.

2. Learn to walk away Reevaluate what your learning in terms of the group. If you do decide to leave a group, make a graceful exit. And also, you can always come back.

3. Cultivating our Public Persona Remember, everything you say online is public. So, be careful what you say. "For better or for worse."

Unproductivity Skills


1. Sometimes You just can't get it together This is perfectly ok, nor is it unusual. The solution is to do 3 easy things, and once you get those done, it may give you a different perception than before. But, if that isn't good enough, take a walk, get some exercise, and if you need to, take the afternoon off.

2. Major life events? May make you distracted, So ask for the help when you need it. If that help is not given, then reconsider the job.

3. The Three Day Limit "Would you do this on the last day of your life?" If not, reconsider your priorities, because your never stuck in that one place. You can always move on to something different. Start off by listing the things that you have to get fixed.
